1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
 

1.1 Information You Provide

The following information is created by you and stored locally on your device only:

• Journal entries including trip notes, species caught, flies used, conditions, and photos

• Custom map pin locations, names, notes, and attached photos

• Manual river conditions (water temperature, flow level, clarity, gauge height)

• App settings and preferences (temperature units, active location)

This information is not transmitted to our servers in the current version of the App (v1.0 Beta).
 

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

The App may access the following device features when you grant permission:

• Location (GPS) — used to provide accurate weather data for your position, find nearby map pins, and enable the map locator button. Location is accessed only when the App is in use.

• Camera — used to capture photos for journal entries and map pins

• Photo Library — used to select existing photos for journal entries and map pins

We do not collect or store this information on our servers. All data remains on your device.
 

1.3 Information Sent to Third-Party Services

To provide the App's features, certain non-personal information is sent to third-party services:

• Your GPS coordinates and selected location name are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve weather data

• Your location name and fishing context (weather, conditions, anonymized journal patterns) are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate fishing predictions. No personally identifying information is included in these requests.

• Your GPS coordinates or searched location name are sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim for geocoding

• Map tile requests are sent to MapTiler based on your map view area

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to any third parties.
 

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

The information collected is used solely to:

• Provide the App's core features (weather, predictions, map, journal)

• Improve the accuracy of Raven Intelligence predictions using your personal fishing history

• Cache data locally for offline use

• Generate data exports when you request them

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or any purpose beyond operating the App's features.
 

3. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
 

3.1 Local Storage

All your personal data — journal entries, map pins, photos, and settings — is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and the device file system. This data does not leave your device except as described in Section 1.3.
 

3.2 Photos

Photos taken or selected within the App are stored in your device's local app storage directory. They are not uploaded to any server or shared with any third party.
 

3.3 Security

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data within the App. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. As your data is stored locally on your device, the security of your device directly affects the security of your App data. We recommend using device-level security features such as screen lock and encryption.
 

3.4 Data Retention

Your data is retained on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App. We recommend using the App's export feature to back up your data before uninstalling.
 

4. PERMISSIONS

Cast by Raven requests the following device permissions:

• Location (When in Use) — Required for weather accuracy and map features. You can deny this permission but some features will be limited.

• Camera — Required to take photos for journal entries and map pins. Optional — you can use the App without photos.

• Photo Library — Required to select existing photos. Optional — you can use the App without selecting photos.

You can manage these permissions at any time through your device's Settings app.
 

5. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Cast by Raven is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.
 

6. YOUR RIGHTS

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access — You can view all your data within the App at any time

• Export — You can export all your data using the Export My Data feature in Settings

• Deletion — You can delete individual journal entries and map pins within the App, or delete all data by uninstalling the App

• Correction — You can edit any journal entry or map pin at any time

As your data is stored locally on your device, these rights are exercised directly within the App without needing to contact us.
 

7. THIRD PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES

The App uses third-party services as described in Section 1.3. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies:

8. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
 

9. CANADIAN PRIVACY LAW

Cast by Raven operates in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Alberta provincial privacy legislation including the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). If you have concerns about our privacy practices or wish to make a complaint, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
