The origin
Backcountry Intelligence started on a creek bed in the Alberta foothills. A few days into a hunt, surrounded by fresh sign — tracks, rubs, beds — and still not connecting. The animals were there. The information was there. What was missing was the ability to see the pattern across all of it: when to sit, when to move, which sign actually mattered.
No app could answer that. Most apps weren't even trying. So we built one.
Our mission
Hunting rewards patience, observation, and discipline. The hunters who consistently fill tags aren't the ones with the best gear — they're the ones who pay attention.
We built Backcountry Intelligence for the hunter who already pays attention. Who logs sign. Who notices the wind. Who reads the country. Who wants their seasons of effort to compound, not evaporate.
Every pin you drop becomes intelligence. Every track you log becomes pattern. Every condition you record becomes signal. The system reasons over your data and Alberta's landscape, and tells you — honestly — what it sees, what it doesn't, and what's worth your day.
We won't promise you'll fill your tag. We'll promise the days you spend hunting will be the right ones.
Backcountry Intelligence is the field intelligence layer — reading the terrain, the conditions, and the evidence you've collected, and producing the briefing you need before you leave the truck.
We don't tell you where the animals are. We tell you what your data is saying, what the country is offering, and what the day is going to ask of you. The shot is yours.
We build for hunters who understand that Alberta's wild country isn't owed to us — it's borrowed from the generations that come next. Better information leads to better decisions. Better decisions lead to fewer marginal shots, lighter footprints, and hunters who leave the country better than they found it. That's the standard. That's the work.
